Providing Academic and Personal Support for All Barnard Students
The Office of the Dean of Studies supports the academic planning and success, academic integrity, and well-being of all Barnard College students, and supports the teaching and advising efforts of the College's faculty members. This includes:
- The academic Class Deans and support staff, who provide students guidance in developing their educational plans and making thoughtful and informed decisions about their life goals;
- The Registrar and support staff, who implement the College’s policies and procedures, and maintain the institution’s academic records; and
- A dedicated team that supports first-generation and low-income students in discovering their own capabilities through such programs such as HEOP and CSTEP, and helps these students identify opportunities that will enrich and complement their intellectual life at Barnard.
The Office of the Dean of Studies is committed to supporting the academic planning and success, academic integrity, and well-being of all students and to supporting the teaching efforts of faculty members. To those ends, the members of the Office are easily accessible to students and work closely and collegially with all offices that report to the Dean of the College, with the International Programs staff members in the Provost’s Office, and with faculty members—as teachers and academic advisers. In addition, members of the Office work often with parents and with counterpart offices within Columbia University.
